Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship
(formerly Professional Nurse Traineeship)Application
Deadlines:

- Students with a current 2007-2008 application on file in the Student Service office do not need to reapply for consideration for spring or summer 2008. Your application will remain active.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Students must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a graduate program in nursing. Part-time students must be scheduled to graduate within the next 12 months.
- RN - MSN students must be in graduate portion of the program.
- Traineeship funds will be awarded to students with demonstrated financial need and consideration will be given to other financial aid awarded.
- Anesthesia students are eligible during the first year of the full-time program only.
- Students must be a citizen of the United States, non-citizen national, or foreign national who possesses a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States.
Anesthesia Traineeship
Eligibility Requirements:
- Open to all Anesthesia students after 12 months of full-time study

Nurse Faculty Loan
ApplicationCriteria:
- Must be currently licensed as a RN
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must be a full time student in good academic standing, with a cumulative QPA of 3.0 or higher in one of our graduate programs
- Must submit essay describing career goals as a faculty member in a school of nursing and the impact of quality teaching on the profession of nursing
- Must submit current resume or curriculum vital
- Must submit one recommendation from a current faculty member (see attached recommendation form)
- Must agree to complete educational requirements to be prepared as nurse faculty (mentored teaching practicum in doctoral program or education minor in MSN program)
- Refer to application for specific loan details
Awards for the School of Nursing Scholarships are awarded each summer and students are recognized at the September Convocation. Applications for 2008-2009 will be available in January or mid February 2008.
Corrine M. Barnes Scholarship: PhD Studies in Nursing Care of Children
Criteria:
Recipient must be a doctoral student who has:
- Achieved academic merit
- Demonstrated through the required essay a thorough understanding of the developmental and biological needs of ill children
- CV
- 2 reference letters (one from a University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing faculty member and one from your current employer)
- Previous recipients may apply again.
Dorothy Drake Brooks Scholarship
Criteria:
- Successful completion of required baccalaureate coursework in the RN-MSN program
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Acceptance with full status in a graduate program
- Current enrollment in graduate level courses
- CV
- Demonstrate financial need
Cameos of Caring Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Criteria:
- Must be currently licensed as RN
- Essay describing commitment to bedside nursing
- QPA of 3.0 or higher; if newly admitted, must be capable of maintaining a QPA of 3.0
- Work in a hospital located in Western Pennsylvania
- Letter of recommendation from faculty or clinical setting
- Candidates must be admitted into the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Preference will be given to nurses from participating Cameos of Caring facilities
- Required to submit a current resume or CV
Rose E. Constantino Scholarship
Criteria:
- A doctoral student in psychiatric mental health nursing pursuing a dissertation on suicide, suicide survivorship and/or schizophrenia, a doctoral or master's student in psychiatric nursing; or a general master's or doctoral nursing student (in the order listed)
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Two letters of recommendation-one of which should be from a University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing faculty member
- Brief essay summarizing career goals and research interests related to psychiatric/mental health nursing

Doris and Davina Gosnell Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Criteria:
- Award will be given to a student in the master's or doctoral program who demonstrates academic merit, leadership potential and financial need.
- Demonstrates leadership potential as evidenced by CV
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Completed at least 9 credits
- Demonstrates financial need
Patricia P. Lynch Scholarship
Criteria:
- Master's student who demonstrates academic merit and financial need
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Completed at least 9 credits

Elizabeth L. Noroian Scholarship
Criteria:
- Graduate students with the exception of psychiatric or pediatric students
- QPA of 3.5 or higher

Bessie Li Sze Memorial Scholarship
Criteria:
- Master's student with a concentration in Oncology who demonstrates financial need
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Student must have full status
Gail A. Wolf Graduate Nursing Leadership Award
Criteria:
- Doctoral student focusing in Nursing Administration & Leadership
- Good academic standing.
- Essay describing how you currently demonstrate your nursing leadership abilities and how advanced education will enhance your ability to lead the clinical discipline of nursing. The essay should be no longer than two (2) double spaced typed written pages
Jean Swindell Wolfe Orr Scholarship
Criteria:
- Graduate student who plans a career focus on women's health
- Completed at least 3 terms of graduate study
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Essay including career goals showing evidence of intention to contribute to the advancement of women's health
- Demonstrated leadership potential
Beryl B. Haughton Jackson Scholarship
Criteria:
- Master's student who plans a career focus on women's health in an under served population
- Completed at least 20 credits
- QPA of 3.5 or higher
- Demonstrates financial need
- CV
- Essay describing how the applicant sees herself/himself contributing to the enhancement of the study of women's health within under served populations after graduation, including a statement of intent to pursue a career enhancing women's health
Szeming Sze
Criteria:
- Student must have achieved academic excellence (undergrad QPA-3.0, grad QPA 3.5) in course work or clinical experience relative to gerontology
- Resume or CV
- 2 page essay addressing experiences and future career goals related to interest in gerontology
- Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses clinical or research experience in gerontology
- Financial need
W. Edward & Jeannette L. Wolfe Memorial Fund
Criteria:
- Serve as a resource fund for graduate students in the Nurse Anesthesia Program.
- All candidates shall have successfully completed their first year of studies in the Nurse Anesthesia program
- All candidates shall have a minimum QPA of 3.5
- Qualified candidates shall submit an essay describing how they see themselves contributing to the enhancement of Nurse Anesthesia
- One student may be selected each academic year.
- The dean shall appoint a faculty committee to review applications.
Elizabeth Bayer Baxter Student Resource Fund
Criteria:
- All candidates shall have successfully completed their first year of graduate studies.
- All candidates shall have a minimum of 3.5 QPA.
- Graduate student who intends to pursue a career involving maternal/child health or pediatrics after graduation.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Essay describing how you see yourself contributing to the enhancement of maternal/child health or pediatrics after graduation.
Marie S. Houston Scholarship
Criteria:
- Graduate student who intends to pursue a career in nursing education involving pediatrics after graduation
- Good academic standing
- Essay outlining your professional goals after graduation
