Faculty Positions

The following faculty positions are available in the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Unless otherwise noted, requirements include an MSN for non-tenure stream positions and enrollment in a doctoral program or doctorate. PhD in nursing or relevant discipline required for tenure stream positions. Applicants must possess evidence of a program of scholarship or clinical skills in an area of nursing specialization. Chairperson, Health & Community Systems:

Full-time leadership position available for a nurse scholar who will assume responsibility for the academic and administrative leadership of a department with approximately 33 faculty responsible for community health nursing, psychiatric nursing, geriatric nursing, nursing education and informatics. Qualifications include a focused program of research, eligibility for tenure. Full professor rank preferred.

UPMC Health System Chair in Nursing Science:

The candidate for this full-time tenured position should be an outstanding senior nurse scientist with a program of research that has direct application to nursing practice and is recognized by experts as having made significant contributions to the discipline of nursing.

Director of the Center for Innovation in Clinical Learning:

This tenure-track faculty position will lead new research and practice at the School around clinical learning as well as oversee effective utilization of technology in instruction in clinical skills. The Director has full oversight of the center budget, the technology, and support staff; an Associate Director handles the day-to-day operational issues. The CICL is a cluster of five different well-resourced teaching and learning environments for clinical learning: a simulation center, a nursing skills lab, two traditional computer labs, an interactive biological sciences lab, and a distance education program.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists:

Full-time tenure stream position requires CRNA with a defined focal area of research. Responsibilities include establishing a program of research, teaching and service. Requirements include doctoral preparation in nursing or a related field, current certification as a nurse anesthetist by the CCNA, and a minimum of 5 years clinical experience as a CRNA. Prior teaching experience preferred.

Manager of the Nursing Skills Lab:

This full-time twelve-month non-tenure stream position will be responsible for designing evidence/science based instruction, utilizing technology, direct instruction, as well as coordinating the operations of the Skills Lab within the Center for Innovation in Clinical Learning.

Faculty:

Several full-time tenure stream positions are available for faculty with a variety of research interests. Available full-time or part-time non-tenure stream positions include, but are not limited to, maternity, community health, psychiatric, pediatric and medical-surgical nursing.
