April 11, 2008 — Foundations of Nursing Informatics for Nurse Educators: Linking to Nursing Practice

The purpose of these workshops is to introduce nursing faculty to the application of nursing informatics and learning technologies in undergraduate nursing education. Moving the Classroom into the 21st Century applies learning theories to educational technologies Trends in learning science as they relate to baccalaureate nursing education are explored. Methods to select appropriate technologies to attain learning outcomes are discussed.  Participants will have opportunities to utilize technologies such as audience response systems, copy stands and smart boards and various interactive learning formats. Foundations of Nursing Informatics for Nurse Educators examines the place of nursing informatics in nursing practice. Current evidence related to nursing classification systems, controlled vocabularies, electronic health records and computerized provider order entry are outlined. The role of clinical decision support systems is discussed, along with the challenges of integrating information technologies in learning experiences.

Nursing faculty of schools designated as learning partner schools for the ELITE Faculty Development Program are eligible to participate.  Attendance is limited to 30 faculty.

Guidelines for Program Application Submission and Registration

1. Please download, complete and submit the application form for the respective program of your interest by March 17, 2008
2. You will be notified via email if you are accepted to the program by March 20,2008
3. Upon acceptance to the program, proceed to the online meal fee payment, if you choose to pay for the meal fee by using a credit card, otherwise move to the steps no. 5 and 7.
4. After completing the online payment successfully,  print confirmation page
5. Download, complete and submit the registration form for the respective program of your interest
6. If you paid on-line, please assure that the Order ID listed on your confirmation page is entered in the field ONLINE PAYMENT ORDER ID# of the respective program registration form.
7. You will receive an email confirming your registration
